The idea of switching to part-time work is regularly discussed by all parties in labor relations: the Government, employers and trade unions. In 2022, the top management’s voiced proposal to switch to a four-day work week caused a great public outcry and a wave of criticism.
But the current economic situation in the country due to the spread of coronavirus increases the relevance of introducing a part-time working week. Employers hope, through the transition to a part-time week, to reduce their salary costs while maintaining the number of staff, because they will be able to recalculate the monthly salaries of staff in proportion to the time actually worked.
