How to calculate the average salary in Moscow

In our country, the minimum wage is divided by the city of Moscow, regions and general. Any region or region of the Russian Federation has the right to raise the minimum payment level, but it is mainly Moscow that uses it. In this city, the lower salary threshold is set every 3 months. The rate automatically increases if the cost of living increases.

Note from BBQcash: At the same time, the minimum wage remains the same if its size decreases.

Since the beginning of 2022, in the capital, employers have paid wages to employees of at least 18,781 rubles, guided by the legislation that is relevant today.

50,000 - this is the amount of the fine imposed for violating the law for a manager if he pays hired labor in an amount less than 16,339 after paying tax.

Important information from BBQcash: Employers argue with the labor inspectorate for their refusal to apply the minimum wage and receive the right to pay the required salary. For example, an employee is hired part-time or works part-time.

The total minimum wage in our country is 7,501 rubles higher than the Moscow figure. The stable growth of figures indicates the development of the city’s economic sphere.

The minimum wage in all regions of the Russian Federation is not exempt from income tax. Muscovites receive a minimum monetary reward of 16,339 after deducting 13%.

Useful information from BBQcash: Moscow workers are subject to the general minimum payment if they are federal state employees and are financed from the state budget. An example is civil servants. In such cases, the minimum wage is 11,280 rubles.

Calculating average wages is simple. They use data from official tax service sources. In this case, only official income is taken into account. A bonus, allowance or gray salary fall out of sight of Moscow City Statistics employees because personal income tax is not collected from them.

Rosstat and its analogues use a simple technique. All official incomes, in this case of Muscovites, are added up, and the resulting amount is divided by the number of employees. As a result, they get the average wage figure.

Moscow statistics in their reports reflect the incomes of all segments of the population, but the final calculations overestimate the real salaries of the majority by approximately one and a half times. The high earnings of top managers and deputies, whose salaries reach 400,000, paint a more rosy picture of the life of ordinary residents of the capital. Such a gap in wages threatens a social explosion, and among residents of the province, living at 12,000, hostility towards Muscovites is growing.

Minimum salary

Minimum wage is the minimum wage. In Russia there is a general minimum wage, as well as regional and Moscow-specific minimum wages.

The Moscow minimum wage depends directly on the subsistence level, which is established in this city once every 3 months. That is, if the cost of living increases, then the minimum wage rate automatically increases. If the cost of living decreases, then the minimum wage remains the same.

Minimum wage in Moscow

The minimum salary in Moscow from January 1, 2022 is 20,195 RUB. According to current legislation, each employer undertakes to pay its employee a salary not less than this amount. If a manager violates the law and knowingly pays less than the minimum wage, then he is subject to a fine of 50,000 RUB.

But it is worth remembering that if the employer has submitted a reasoned refusal to apply the minimum wage to the Labor Inspectorate, then he has the right to pay his employees such salary as he sees fit.

For comparison, it can be noted that the Moscow minimum wage is 5677 RUB more than the general minimum wage in the Russian Federation. This indicator indicates the development of the city and its economic stability.

Data on average salaries in Moscow by year

Statistics on the income of Muscovites are published in the public domain by Mosgorstat. In addition to publishing average annual values, experts from this organization noted that there is a pronounced seasonality in the earnings of Moscow residents. So, for example, in 2022, the average income in January was 70,000 rubles, and in June of the same year - 90,000 rubles. However, this jump could be associated with the holding of the FIFA World Cup and the large influx of tourists and fans, which managed to raise additional profit.

Salaries by profession

Today, statistics use the average wage indicator. But most ratings do not indicate the average salary, but the median income of the population.

That is, half of the people according to statistics earn less than the median income, and the second part earns more. This is the so-called golden mean.

For example: 10 people of the same specialty receive a salary ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 rubles, and 1 person earns 10,000 rubles. The median income in this situation will be 1,500 rubles, while the average salary of people will be 2,318 rubles.
